A career in the entertainment industry is often colorful but seldom as fulfilling as we are led to believe by the media moguls who glorify the highs and lows of celebrities as they live out their lives in the public eye. Only a tiny percentage of those entering this industry attain the dizzy heights they dream of, and many fall by the wayside without causing a ripple in this vast ocean we call showbiz. Martin Andrew's story tells a tale of one man's journey from a small town in rural England to the bright lights of Las Vegas and beyond. It is not a story of success or failure but rather one of passion, determination and survival as he embarks on The Road to the Manor.

5.0 out of 5 stars A total page-turner
We all know the glory stories of the musicians and other artists that made it to the top, and I love reading them and living vicariously through them same as you do. But those are maybe .05% of the folks who chase their dreams what about all the others, and ESPECIALLY the ones that would never stop believing in themselves and their dreams but that DIDN’T make it to the top? This is the story of one of those folks, but who eventually DID make it to the top, after 40 years! His rock & roll years on the road provide all the requisite (and lurid) groupie & party stories, but that isn’t really the point of this book. The point is that if you give up on yourself, then your failure is guaranteed. This guy (Martin Andrew is his name) just would not accept an outcome other than his vision, no matter how many times he hit a dead end. It’s actually pretty spiritual in that way I think. Anyways I binged the book on Kindle (love the touring chronicles), but now my gf wants to read it so guess I’ll need to buy a paperback as well!

5.0 out of 5 stars A real life story
I really enjoyed reading this book. It’s very honest account of twists and turns life takes working as a musician and actor. He really lets us take a look at his life, his family, friends, co-workers and many of the people who guided him along the way. There are pictures documenting the different parts of the journey. I thought it was a great look at how it’s a complicated and sometimes difficult journey to get where you want to go in life.
